Inaction is the death of any business. Now that’s a bold statement, but with the direction in which you speak to your customer rapidly changing with a large digital focus - you cannot afford to DO NOTHING.

When you choose to do nothing, everything around you changes and without taking regular action every single day to grow your business, the inaction will cause your business to become stagnant. Clients will disappear, lose interest in your business,  your social media will have zero engagement, and your revenue will decrease, instead of grow, and if anything you will start to blame economic situations or the clients themselves as the reason why you are quiet.

Let’s avoid this scenario!  Here are five action tasks that will lead to increased income and business growth.

1. Email Your Customers Regularly.

Contrary to popular belief, email marketing is NOT dead. Email is the easiest way to stay in touch with customers and prospects to let them know about your new offerings, promotions, newsletter update, or blog post.

2. Focus on Customer Service.

You will never please everyone but you may as well try your best. Inevitably customers will contact you with questions or refund requests so be prepared to answer these requests in a timely manner. Stick to your rules about refunds but never disregard or disrespect a customer. Negative online reviews are easier to find than positive ones. Remember that it costs more to find a new client than it does to keep an existing one, so work on ways in which you continually re-invent your offerings and most importantly keep up to date with digital engagement strategies while your treatment room doors are closed.

3. Raise Your Prices.

When was your last treatment menu increase? Are your prices competitive with the current market? Who is the ideal client that you want to attract? Be confident that your expertise is worth the increased price rise and notify your existing clients and team of the effective date. I know a lot of business owners that don’t communicate price increases with their customers or even their team, I hear the language that you don’t get a notification that the milk goes up in price at coles…… well I can tell you that crystal clear communication and giving notice a month prior will go a lot further in loyalty and how your clients value your time than just giving them a surprise price increase at checkout. You are not Coles, you are a business that builds strong customer relationships, no one talks about their milk at the dinner table but they do talk about the incredible customer experience they had at the salon that day.

 4. Repackage Your Offerings.

Don’t reinvent the wheel. Simply take your older content – what promotions worked well for you last year? What treatments and products did your clients purchase the most of and how can you create a killer scroll stopping promotion around that, reword it, redesign the offer and speak to your clients about the transformation they will receive and the value they are getting from snapping this limited offer up.

5. Create a New Offering for Old Clients.

People buy from those they know, like, and trust, so open up that old client list and create an exclusive offer just for them. Make the offer sexy, exclusive, and time-sensitive to get quick action results.

How Do I Know What to Offer?

This is an age-old question of many business owners and it boils down to knowing your target audience. How do they want their information presented? What are the hot topics in the industry they want to know more about? What struggles do they have every day? The simplest way to know what they want is to simply ask them.
